April 23, 2008 @ 10:30AM Update from Facebook
Praise God, Katherine is continuing to improve. In fact, this morning she OPENED HER EYES and looked at Jay. She is doing so well that they are taking her off the drugs that are keeping her in a coma. Obviously, this is amazing and exciting! Keep those prayers coming. I will continue to update this page as I get more information!!!
Jay has asked that we begin to pray Mark 5:41 — to believe that Jesus is speaking to Katherine.
“He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”) — Mark 5:41
April 23, 2008 @ 9:30AM Update from FBC Montgomery
Mary Ruth was so excited sharing this information this morning. The entire Wolf Family wishes to thank everyone for their continued support and prayers. Truly the body of Christ is at work around the world. Jay has asked that we continue to pray Mark 5:41. Sarah should arrive in Atlanta today and later join her sisters in Montgomery. Pray for Mary Ruth as plans are being made for her to fly to LA.

Katherine, in response to instructions from the nurse last night, moved two fingers on her left hand and then two fingers on her right hand! Then she wiggled her toes. While cautioning that this will be a roller coaster, this is a tremendous progress!!! The family has expressed that this is like witnessing a miracle. PRAISE THE LORD! Please continue your fervent prayers for Katherine and this precious family. Jay has asked that we begin to pray Mark 5:41 — to believe that Jesus is speaking to Katherine.

Katherine has not only raised her hand but has wiggled all ten toes on command!!!! This is a huge advancement, especially for it to happen so soon after surgery. They are still keeping her in a drug-induced coma for the next 36 - 48 hours to let her body rest and heal, but we are all very encouraged by this latest development. The Lord is at work…keep raising our dear Kat up in prayer!!!!

A nurse just informed Jay that Katherine raised her hand and made a “V” sign. According to this same nurse, that means that she is NOT completely paralyzed as the doctors thought might happen. At this point Dr. Gonzales is saying that the important thing is for Katherine’s body to remove the blood from affected tissue areas, such as her brain stem.
It’s been encouraging to see how many people have shown up at the hospital, and encouraging to see everyone here on Facebook. Prayer is flooding in from around the world and is making a difference. Thank you, and keep it coming!
The words of Jesus that Jay’s father has been praying with all of us can be found in Mark 5: “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”

There has been a bit of good news. The doctors did an arterial angiogram (a type of dye test) a few hours ago that showed that the AVM has been entirely removed and that there is no further bleeding — in other words, the surgery was a complete success as far as that goes. We still do not know (and still won’t know for a few days) whether and to the extent Katherine has suffered any permanent damage. The risks that she has are still very high. Obviously, it is still a very long road ahead and we need everyone to absolutely start a bonfire of prayer. But at the hospital, we all feel the Lord at work and are encouraged by this news.
Right now, Jay and the Arnolds have everything they need, so there is no need to bring anything to the hospital. I’ll be in touch in the next few days with plans for meal delivery for the family, but for now, I think Jay would appreciate just your prayers more than anything - no need to send/bring anything to the hospital at this point.

I have never met Katherine, but I was involved in the church youth group with Jason in high school. His wife began to have symptoms yesterday afternoon including nausea, vomiting, and numbness in the legs. Luckily her husband, Jason, was home during this and called for emergency services. Once Katherine arrived at the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with Arterio-venous Malformation (or AVM), which is a rupture or bleed in the brain.
Doctors immediately rushed her into emergency brain surgery, which lasted around 12 hours, at UCLA-Westwood hospital in Los Angeles.
As of now, Katherine’s condition is still very grave as she is in a medically-induced coma that is expected to last 48 hours.
Keep the Wolf & Arnold families in your thoughts and prayers during this very tragic times. Both Katherine’s mother and Jason’s Dad (pastor of FBC Montgomery) are there with them during this difficult time.
